Scholarships for Undergraduate Programmes offered at Institute of Engineering and Technology
B.Tech.
To encourage and support meritorious applicants, JKLU has a very distinctive scholarship programme. Applicant may qualify for a scholarship up to full waiver of the University Academic and Hostel Fee.
Scholarship is awarded based on:
- Academic Performance in Class X & Class XII. (Only for those who have passed class XII in 2021 or 2022.)
- Performance in JEE 2021 & 2022, if available.
- Exceptional performance in co-curricular activities (Sports, Cultural, Social Service etc.)
The scholarship offered by JKLU is applicable for the duration of the programme, subject to maintaining the required CGPA.

Additionally, we have a scheme of fee reduction for certain categories of students. As of now, we reduce fee by 25% for the following people:
- Wards of any staff member of JKLU or any entity belonging to JK Orgnisation
- Sibling of any student (both get fee reduction)
- Sibling of any alumni
- Any alumni pursuing a second degree.
The scholarship decision will be based on rules applicable on the day the complete application is submitted, subject to admission being confirmed by paying the initial deposit. For example, if a student has 95% marks in 10th, and 12th class results will be available in June, 2022. Assuming that the student got 96% marks in 12th, the scholarship will be 100% (L1) if the application was submitted in March, but it will be 75% (L2), if the application was submitted in May. Hence it is important to submit applications as early as possible.

The scholarship offered by JKLU is applicable for the duration of the programme, subject to maintaining the required CGPA.

While every application is considered for scholarship based on the final scores achieved in 10th and 12th standard, the consideration for scholarship upgradation shall be mostly limited to the students whose design portfolio submitted as part of the application during the admission process displays exemplary talent. The broad parameters of judgment of portfolio and the subsequent upgraded scholarship award to the student are: Creativity and innovation employed; quality, versatility and presentation of work displayed; comprehension of problem statement and consequent process to the derived solution; competency in ideation, research, and skill; domain knowledge; and the learning ability and growth orientation of the student. Scholarship level may also be upgraded by one level in case of exceptional achievements in any other sphere by the student.
All scholarship applications received shall be scrutinised based on the criterion defined in the policy on scholarship upgradation and on the discretion of the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee includes the Vice Chancellor of JKLU, Director of Institute of Design, Director of Admissions, and faculty members of the Institute of Design. The decision of the Selection Committee will be binding and final. No further review requests will be acknowledged. The number of scholarship upgrades to be awarded during each academic year is at the discretion of the Committee. If no candidate is found suitable for consideration of scholarship upgradation, no award shall be recommended in an academic year.

M.Tech.
The scholarship offered by JKLU is applicable for the duration of the programme, subject to maintaining the required CGPA.
- Applicants qualifying GATE, will be eligible for 100% scholarship on Academic Fee.
- Applicants with exceptional achievements will be eligible for maximum 50% scholarship on
Academic Fee.
For scholarship in the second year, students must secure a CGPA of 7.5 or higher in the first year.
Scholarships for Graduate Programme offered at Institute of Design
M.Des.
To encourage and support meritorious applicants, JKLU has a very distinctive scholarship programme. Applicant may qualify for a scholarship up to ₹150,000/-
Scholarship is awarded based on:
- NID-DAT, CEED or JKLU DET Exam
The scholarship offered by JKLU is applicable for the duration of the programme, subject to maintaining the required CGPA.

Eligibility
- Minimum 70% aggregate marks in both Class X & XII for B.Tech. (CSE) and 65 % for B.Tech. (ME & ECE). For class X marks, five subjects will be considered. Four compulsory subjects are English, Maths, Social Studies, and Science. In case, 10th board has more than five subjects, the fifth subject will be of applicant’s choice. For Class XII marks, four subjects will be considered. These four are: English, Physics, Chemistry and Maths. In case, 12th board has more than four subjects, marks in additional subjects will not be considered or equivalent grades from a recognized Central/State Board/University Examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- Students appearing in the final examination of 10+2 may also apply. However, the admission will be provisional subject to achieving the minimum marks.
- Foreign Nationals/ Persons of Indian Origin/Non-Resident Indian candidates can be considered for admission on the basis of their marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination only.
- It may however be noted that possessing minimum qualification does not guarantee admission. University carries out a holistic evaluation of all achievements and takes a decision accordingly. The median 12th class marks among students admitted to Engineering last year was around 85%.
- As part of holistic evaluation of student applications, in case of exceptional students, VC may approve a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum requirement for a programme.
- The scholarship offered by JKLU is applicable for the duration of the programme, subject to maintaining the required CGPA.
- Applicants qualifying GATE, will be eligible for 100% scholarship on Academic Fee.
