Orientation Programme
JKLU opened its new academic year 2021-22 and welcomed the fresh batch of students across Institutes of Engineering & Technology, Management and Design. The Induction and Orientation Programme was held from 16th August to 27th August, with an intent to inspire, motivate and build the skill-set of students making them ready and equipped for university life. The inaugural session was held on 16th August with the honourable Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor addressing the audience that included faculty, students, parents and staff. Students were appraised about the opportunities that JKLU offers in terms of international academic collaborations, its renowned faculty and facilities such as media labs, tech-labs and studios.
A variety of engaging sessions and workshops were lined up with a stellar cast of speakers from diverse domains including Shylashri Shankar (Author and Senior fellow at Centre for Policy Research), Raghav Rao (CFO, Amazon India), Margie Sastry (Script-writer & erstwhile Editor at Amar Chitra Katha comics), Sanjay Singh (CIO Asia and MENA, P&G), Sanjay Jain (Former MD, Accenture), Pramath Raj Sinha (Founding Dean, Indian School of Business and Trustee, Ashoka University) and Prof. Manish Jain (IIT Gandhinagar), among others. Workshops delved on design thinking, poetry, storytelling, ideation & creativity, critical thinking & communication, writing skills and risk-taking. The Centre for Communication and Critical Thinking conducted powerful sessions on Creative Problem Solving, Gender & Identity and Diversity, Inclusion & Equality, which saw vigorous debates and discussions amongst students, as well as led them to encourage peer-learning and introspect on their experiences.
Apart from workshops, interactive talks and sessions, students were also exposed to the rich extra-curricular activities like photography, music, dance, quiz, coding, sports, etc, that the various Clubs of JKLU organise. They were also encouraged to join a club of their preference and participate in developing holistic skills. New students were also introduced to the various Institutes and Centres of Excellence, Atal Incubation Centre, Learning Resources Centre, Career Development & Placements cell and other Campus facilities and resources.
