On August 12, 2021, JKLU celebrated National Librarian’s Day. The day marked the 129th Birth Anniversary of Dr. S R Ranganathan, Father of Library Science in India. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. R L Raina highlighted the expected role of library and information science professionals and the huge contribution made by Dr. Ranganathan. Prof. Dheeraj Sanghi spoke about the importance of libraries and their contribution in academic and civil society. Guest Speaker of the occasion, Dr. Usha Mujoo Munshi, Chief Librarian of India International Centre-Delhi, in her talk on “Ranganathan in Today’s Context”, emphasized that canons, laws and principles formulated by Dr. Ranganathan are still relevant in today’s digital world. The programme, which was organized by Dr M U Raja and his team from JKLU’s Learning Resource Centre,  was attended by faculty and staff of the university, in person, and library professionals across the country, virtually.
