Institute of Design commemorated India’s design luminary Prof. M. P. Ranjan and felicitated Prof. Vikas Satwalekar, Graphic designer, Educator, Mentor, Former Executive Director of NID on November 9, 2019. Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. R.L. Raina opened the event by addressing the audience followed by Prof. A Balasubramanium, Director, Institute of Design, JKLU.
Prof. Vikas Satwalekar showcased his body of works in the last fifty years, including the  Doordarshan logo project, branding and exhibition designs for several museums and book projects among others. This was followed by felicitation of Prof. Satwalekar. The felicitation was followed by a panel discussion on ‘COLLABORATION’. Speakers included Dr. Toolika Gupta, Dean IICD, Suranjana Satwalekar, former senior design faculty NID, and partner in SATWALEKAR Design Studio, Ayush Kasliwal, designer and founder of Anantaya Design Studio, Vikas Satwalekar, former Director NID, Ahmedabad and Asheesh Gupta, Pro VC JK Lakshmipat University. The session was led by Gaurav Juyal, Lecturer at Institute of Design, JK Lakshmipat University. The members presented their views on several discourses including collaborations through design education and practice, challenges in the field of design and the future of design collaborations in India and its effects on the growth of design learning in India.
