JK Lakshmipat University organized International Conference on “Innovations in Technology and Management for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during February 1-3, 2019 at JKLU Campus, Jaipur. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India.  The welcome address was delivered by Dr. R. L. Raina, Conference Patron & Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JKLU. Dr. Raina in his address aptly shared the purpose of organising the conference on ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ and linked it with the innovations and developments taking place at the University.

Thereafter, Mr. Asheesh Gupta, Honourable, Pro-Vice Chancellor, JKLU said that the theme of the conference can be the most elegant way to describe the journey of JKLU. He threw some light on the various recent developments of the university such as launch of Institute of Design, establishment of Centre for Communication and Critical Thinking etc. Dr. Jyoti Prakash CR Naidu elaborated on the conference theme. Dr. Sanjay Goel, Director, Institute of Engineering and Technology, JKLU briefed the audience about the teaching- learning process at JKLU which is largely based on experiential learning.

Thereafter, Guest of Honor, Dr. Karim MH, University of Kharazmi, Tehran, Iran said Innovation, as the fruit of science and technology, will play a fundamental role in the Sustainable Development Goals.  Keynote Address was delivered by Mr. Pramod Kumar Jain (ED-Design), NCRTC. He discussed the theme of the conference in the field of transportation and threw some light on the various actions taken by Indian government to achieve sustainable development goals. Inaugural Address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India. He talked about SDGs and illustrated with several examples how these are acting as game changers. There were 2 plenary sessions and 6 technical sessions wherein papers related to subthemes were presented by delegates.  I

n the valedictory session Dr. Dhruvi Bharwad, Social Research Officer with Space Applications Centre (SAC)/ ISRO was the Key Note Speaker who discussed various programmes of ISRO which are contributing significantly in achieving the 17 SGDs.  Thereafter, an invited talk was delivered by Dr. Julie Ingram, University of Gloucestershire, U.K. She discussed the scope of transforming   agriculture to achieve SGDs.  Dr. Shivraj Dhaka Counsellor, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Hyderabad, Telangana, India (Guest of Honour) threw some light on ‘The Indian Green Building Movement’. Thereafter, Dr. Jyoti Prakash Naidu presented the conference report and solicited major takeaway from the participants.  The concluding remarks were given by Dr. Sanjay Goel.
