Session on “Knowledge Graphs in Big Data Processing” under distinguished lecture series was scheduled on January 10, 2020. The speaker of the session was Prof. Amit Sheth, Founding Director, Artificial Intelligence Institute, University of South Carolina, Fellow of IEEE, AAAI, and AAAS. Prof. Sheth started his session with AI Institute @ UofSCS & AI Landscape at South Carolina. He discussed Knowledge Graphs and its importance today in IT Industry. AI is an interdisciplinary area and knowledge which can be represented in can be represented in terms of RDF, RDFS, OWL, DAML, IEEE SUO and CYC (Higher Order Logic) plays the most critical role in intelligent computing. He also addressed the difference between statistical AI and Symbolic AI and shared interesting information on sematic search. He continued his session with successful careers in IT Industry; employer expectations in terms of grades, internships, hands-on projects/experience, coding, social skills, research thesis wherein knowledge infused learning would help students to grab top-notch jobs.
