“Challenges of Nation Building in India” by Prof. Anand Kumar

Professor Anand Kumar is MA in Sociology from Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi), he holds an MPhil from Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi) and a PhD from the University of Chicago. He specializes in Political Sociology, Social Thought, Globalization and Media & Communication. He has over three decades of teaching experience at JNU, BHU, Albert Ludwig University (Freiburg, Germany) and Tufts University (Boston). His long list of awards and honours include Rotating Chair Professor, ICCR (New Delhi), Ford Foundation Short Term Grant, UGC Fellowship for Research Visit to France, DAAD Fellowship for Teaching, Member (National Committee for Dr B.R. Ambedkar Centenary), and First Prize at Inter-Cultural Learning Programme (BMW Foundation, Munich).

Professor Kumar will be interrogating the dynamics of nation-building in India, which began with ‘unity in diversity as its explicit goal.
This talk will be mandatory for 3rd-semester students and open for all.
