He has done PhD from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India, Master of Technology in Machine Design and Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India.
His PhD work includes, experimental and FEA study of mechanical implants used to stabilize the cranio-vertebral junction (CVJ). To carry out the experiments, a seven-DOF parallel manipulator was developed. This setup is first of its kind for in-situ study of the implant. It has strain gauge-based force sensors, to determine the load response. Vision-based tracking setup were incorporated to estimate the motion.
The experiments were conducted on a cadaver in collaboration with faculty of Neurosurgery Department of All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi, India. A finite element model of CVJ was developed based on CT and MRI scans to evaluate the experimental results. The work has been submitted in journal and patent is also filled. A part of this work was also reported in conferences and it was awarded.
During his PhD program, he worked in two projects as senior research fellow. In the first project He worked with a team of research. The title of the project was “Teleoperation of Industrial Robot”. This work was funded from Board of Research in Nuclear Science, Mumbai, India. In this work a haptic arm exoskeleton was developed to teleoperate the KUKA KR5 arc manipulator for peg in a hole insertion task.
The second project was “Injury Mechanisms in Blast and Blunt TBI – a comparative study based on clinical data and numerical analysis”. In this work a finite element model of the head was used to study the injury mechanism. The work has also been reported in parts in conferences.
