Civil engineers plan, design, develop, build, manage, rehabilitate and operate the physical elements of the human habitat. Almost every aspect of everyday life is impacted by projects conceived, designed and constructed by civil engineers. Civil Engineering, like all other fields, is comprised of many sub disciplines.
Primary areas of concentration include Structures, Construction Engineering, and Environment Engineering
This programme is aimed at meeting the infrastructural requirements in the areas, such as Construction, Transportation, Hydropower and Environmental Engineering. The curriculum has been designed maintaining a balance between industry orientation and academic rigour.
Students will be provided with comprehensive theoretical knowledge through lectures, tutorials and assignments covering the basic as well as advanced topics in various courses of Civil Engineering. They will be trained for practical understanding in departmental laboratories, namely Concrete & Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Highway Engineering & Surveying in addition to the traditional Engineering Graphics and Workshop practice.
All laboratories have modern equipment and facilities with highly trained manpower. Students will also be exposed to construction industry during the practical training in reputed construction companies.
Students will also be exposed to software like STAAD Pro, MATLAB, Auto-CAD and PRIMAVIRA that will enhance their employability. Opportunities will also be provided to students for post-graduation and research in the areas of Geotechnical, Structural, Environment and Transportation Engineering.
