From 23rd February to 25th February, 2017 JK Lakshmipat University organized its Sixth National Sports Meet “SPARDHA 2017”, an unforgettable and a never-ending fiesta.
It is rightly said that “Sports do not build character, they reveal it” it was witnessed when the University received overwhelming response from around 35 institutions of different states with participation of about 1300 students,200 students were chosen as the winners and runners up on whom the destiny showered its blessings. Glorified institutions such as IITM, JECRC, Manipal University, Jayoti Vidyapeeth University, Poornima College, Rajasthan University, St. Wilfred’s college, MLS, RIET, Pacific University, SBN, GITS, MCC, Government Women Engineering College ajmer, IIIM, RUHS, PIMR Indore, Manipal, SBSS and Balaji University were the highlights with a massive participation. A total of 16 sports were held, namely, Table Tennis (single, double, team event), Chess, Carrom (singles, doubles), Basketball, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Cricket, LAN Gaming (NFS, FIFA, COUNTER STRIKE), Shot Put, Long Jump, Power Lifting, Cross Fit and 100 m Race.
Day 1, itself marked the beginning of a huge event. It was inaugurated through “Dr. RL Raina”, vice chancellor of JKLU, “Dr-Ing Anupam Kumar Singh, Director of IET, JKLU. The guest of honors was Mr. Sat Prakash Yadav, former captain, coach Indian Basketball team & honorable Justice Nagendra Kumar Jain, ex chief justice, Madras & Karnataka High Court.
DAY 2, The grueling competition continued which included power lifting (for different weights), cross fit, basketball, volleyball, football. The aroma of tough competition is still to be seen in the grounds of J K Lakshmipat University.
DAY-3,After a three-day long grueling competition, the sports meet came to an end with a never forgetting promise of meeting again and the winners and participants were applauded by prizes which were distributed in the Valedictory session.
The Table Tennis event was another major success. In Boys-Single Category, it was JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur that claimed the winning position as Vikas Yadav grabbed the first position while Himanshu (SKIT) stood second. In Girls-Single Category, the winner was Nishtha Jain (JKLU) and the runner up was Himanshi Agarwal(JKLU). In Table Tennis Boys’ Doubles, the winners’ trophy went to Vikas Yadav & Raj Kumar (JKLU) while the runners-up position was secured by UEM. In Table Tennis Girls’ Doubles, the winning team was of Nishtha & Himanshi from JKLU, whereas the runner up team was comprised of Garima & Nishtha of JKLU. In Table Tennis team Event(Boys) the winners were Vikas and team(JKLU), while the runner-ups were MCC. In Table Tennis Team Event(Girls) the winning team was that of JKLU (Nishtha and team). The runner-up team was Garima and team(JKLU).In Volleyball Boys category, the winner was SBCET and the runners up were Poornima Group of Colleges. In Volleyball Girls category, the winning team was GIT, whereas the runner up team was Poornima group of colleges. In Basketball Boys’ category, the winning team was Rajasthan University, while the runner-up was Balaji College. In Basketball Girls’ category, the winning team and the runner up were GIT and Jayoti Vidyapeeth.
In football, Prateek and team (JKLU) secured the first position, while LNMIIT stood second.In Kabaddi Boys’ category, the winner was RIET and the runner up was Amity University and in Girls’ category, the winner was SBN and the runner up was GEC Ajmer .
The event was coordinated by Prof. Devendra Bhavsar, Sports Coordinator, Dr Pushpendra Singh, Dr. Neha Sharma, Faculty members of JKLU and Mr. Gajendra Kumar Yadav, Sports Instructor, JKLU along with student Sports Coordinator Robin Poonia , Rachit Agarwal, Yashveer Singh Inda. It provides a platform to showcase the proficiency of students in sports
