Data is the lifeblood of modern living. From government to industry, market research to social sciences, and healthcare to city planning, data scientists are in demand in all spheres. Digitisation has led to explosive growth in data. So much so that data is doubling every two years and it is estimated that by the year 2020, the accumulated digital data will grow to around 44 trillion gigabytes. Such a scenario presents budding data scientists a great opportunity for a rewarding career.
B. Sc. (Hons.) in Data Science at JKLU is a 3-year programme designed to prepare graduates who can harness data to make better decisions. Through this programme, students will develop an in-depth understanding of techniques for the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to arrive at solutions. The programme creatively combines domains of computer science, maths, business studies, social sciences, communication and design, through a project-based-learning approach, exploring topics including:
Discrete Mathematics and Probability Theory
Predictive Analytics and Prescriptive Analytics
Computer science and programming
Data structures and Algorithms
Data Ethics and Regulations
Specialist skills in the areas of Data-driven computational social sciences; modelling, simulation and optimisation; financial accounting and auditing; and data-driven business management
This skill-rich programme provides students with necessary training for employment or for pursuing higher studies in the wide-ranging fields as a data sciences, analysis, or similar, requiring a critical and independent mind.
